The new Weishaupt split heat pump is a sustainable and cost-effective heating system that also provides pleasant cooling in the summer.

Split heat pumps divide their components between an outdoor and an indoor unit (hydraulic unit). The outdoor unit contains the evaporator and the compressor. The indoor unit (hydraulic unit) contains the condenser.

Whether used purely for heating, or as a heating and cooling system, Weishaupt split heat pumps are suitable both for new builds and for renovations of existing buildings.

The outdoor unit can be installed within a small footprint in front of the exterior wall, or can be fixed directly to the wall with a bracket. It is equipped with an evaporator, which transfers heat from the ambient air to the heat transfer medium. The double rotating-piston compressor increases the temperature level and the heat transfer medium is transported through the refigerant circuit to the indoor unit.

The indoor unit (hydraulic unit) is responsible for the distribuition of the heat to the heating and DHW circuits. The compact, wall-hung housing incorporates the condenser, the hydraulics, and the controller.

The separation into outdoor and indoor units has several advantages:

  • The cost of tapping the air as a source of heat is low 
  • Narrow diameter lines necessitate only small wall breakthroughs
  • The small footprint provides plenty of placement opportunities
  • Can be bracketed to the wall

Weishaupt split heat pumps can also provide cooling during the hot summer months. In cooling mode the functionality is reversed. The split heat pump runs, drawing heat from inside the building via the underfloor heating lines or panel radiators. Cooling is possible from 0 to +46 °C.
