Weishaupt brine-to-water heat pumps (WWP S)

Weishaupt brine-to-water heat pumps utilise heat stored in the ground. They are highly efficient and powerful, with a capacity range of 5 to 130 kW.

Weishaupt brine-to-water heat pumps utilise heat stored in the ground. This heat is recovered using borehole heat exchangers or ground collectors, which transfer the heat from the ground to an indoor heat pump via a brine solution.

The heat pumps transfer the heat to a refigerant, and pump it to the required temperature. As no flue gases are produced, you don't need a chimney.

Outstanding energy yield: For every kilowatt of electrical energy consumed a Weishaupt brine-to-water heat pump recovers 5 kW of heat energy, making it one of the most efficient units on the market.

For any application: Weishaupt brine-to-water heat pumps are available in capacities ranging from 5 to 130 kW. High-temperature versions with flow temperatures up to 70 °C are available for the renovation of older buildings.

Extremely quiet: Weishaupt heat pumps are amongst the quietest available, thanks to their extensive vibration damping, completely sound-attenuated iinternal housing, and high-power compressor with no mechanically actuated valves.

For cooling too: Weishaupt's brine-to-water heat pumps can be used for cooling as well as heating. "Passive cooling"in summer takes advantage of the constantly lower ground temperature to pass "cool" heating water through the system, turning the heating circuit into a cooling circuit.

One-stop solution: All the accessories, from the Class-A-Efficiency pumps to the room thermostats, are designed to work together perfectly. Weishaupt also takes care of the borehole drilling and the connection to the heat pump system.

Easy-to-operate: The integrated controller with clear text display makes it easy to set the system in a few steps.

Complete heat supply: The heat pumps can also be used for domestic hot water. The Weishaupt Combistore (WKS) is a particularly elegant solution, combining cylinder, buffer tank, and all the connections between the heat pump, heating circuit, and DHW circuit within a single, compact housing.

Energy efficiency

The familiar efficiency labelling of fridges, washing machines and televisions has now been extended to cover heating equipment. Both individual products and complete heating systems will be given energy efficiency labels.

The thinking: The labelling complies with European Union (EU) directives and is designed to give consumers a basis for comparison and thus to help them make informed decisions when buying heating systems. Consistent, standardised practice will be ensured by the predefined methods of calculation that have been laid down by the EU Commission.

Product label: Every boiler will receive what is known as a product label. This will state the energy efficiency for space and, where applicable, water heating. Other figures – such as sound power levels –  might also be given, depending on the heating system.

System label: If a complete system is being installed, e.g. a boiler with a temperature controller and a DHW cylinder, there will be a system label to show the energy efficiency of that system as a whole. This is usually better, as all the components have been matched to one another and expansions to the system, for example with solar collectors, have been taken into account.

Usefulness: The labels show the energy efficiency as defined by certain standards. However, this shouldn’t be the be-all and end-all when it comes to domestic heating. Many factors influence the energy efficiency and consumption of a heating system: How warm should the house be? How much hot water will be used? Is there underfloor heating? Purchasing decisions should therefore not be made solely on the basis of the energy efficiency label.

Weishaupt Combi Store: WKS

The Combi Store brings together within a single compact housing all of the components needed to integrate heat pumps with a heating system, thereby considerably reducing the amount of installation work required. It contains a 300-litre DHW cylinder, a 100-litre buffer tank, hydraulic components, circulation pumps, and electrical auxiliary heating. The Combi Store is designed for use with a large number of the Weishaupt heat pumps. (Energy efficiency class: B)


Weishaupt thermal store: WES-A 660/910, version C

Weishaupt thermal stores organise and distribute the heat produced by different energy sources (gas or oil-fired condensing boilers, heat pumps, solar collectors, solid-fuel boilers, or stoves) with an exemplary degree of efficiency. Inlet dampers ensure that the ideal temperature stratification is always maintained within the thermal store. Energy is also drawn off in an economical manner, with solar energy having priority over any other source.

WES 660 A-C

Weishaupt thermal store: WES 200-500 and WES 660/910, versions S and H

A simplified version of the thermal store for heat pumps without solar heating support. It has connections to the heating system (heating unit or heat pump) and additionally to a solid-fuel boiler, fireplace, or stove. Version S additionally offers solar DHW heating. Baltic Sea heats apartments

The Rostock branch office in northern Germany was involved in a pioneering project in Warnemünde that uses water from the Baltic Sea as an energy source. Three Weishaupt heat pumps use special titanium heat exchangers to recover energy from the seawater. This energy is then used in 14 beach-front apartments, ranging in size from 80 to 230 m², which are heated to a comfortable temperature during the winter and likewise coooled during the summer. The recovered energy is also used to heat to the swimming pool and the domestic hot water supply.
