In 1776, Maria Theresa of Austria gave the instruction to demolish the church of Santa Maria alla Scala to make way for what is today one the most important opera houses in the world: The Teatro alla Scala in Milan, La Scala. The heating for La Scala – and its surrounding buildings – is now supplied by three Weishaupt burners type G 60 and one burner type G 30 with O2 trim and speed control, with a total output of approximately 16 MW.
