Weishaupt gas-fired condensing boilers use almost all of the energy stored in the fuel, converting it efficiently into heat. A condensing boiler uses the energy which in older heating systems is lost to atmosphere with the flue gases. In so doing, nett efficiency is increased to around 110 % compared to less than 100 % for low-temperature systems.

Wall-hung condensing boiler: Wall-hanging saves space and allows the boiler to be installed anywhere in the house. The numerous flue-gas components allow a lot of freedom when selecting a suitable location for installing the boiler; for example in the attic using a special flue rather than a classical chimney. A compact version (WTC-GW-K) version with an integral DHW cylinder is also available.

Large capacity range: The boiler benefits from modulating operation, having an infinitely variable response to current heat demand. This is true from the smallest size boiler (4.5 to 15 kW) for individual houses through to cascades of up to four 60 kW boilers. Where an even greater output is required, the floor-standing WTC-GB gas-fired condensing boiler with a cascaded output of up to 1200 kW is also available.

Excellent energy utilisation: Modulating capacity regulation, O2 trim and an aluminium/silicon heat exchanger: all of these details contributions contribute to energy savings. The maximum utilisation factor is 110 % nett, equivalent to 99.1 % gross. This is at the limit of what can be physically achieved. Additionally, electrical consumption is reduced through the use of an energy-saving pump.

Quiet operation: The fan benefits from variable speed drive, which reduces operational noise to a a barely audible minimum.

Exemplary emissions: With Weishaupt, low consumption means low emissions. The SCOT technology (O2 trim) fitted to each WTC Compact as standard ensures a contunually high degree of energy utilisation and low emission levels, even when the gas quality fluctuates - for example between the summer and winter months.

Different gas types: The boiler can operate on natural gas, LPG, or biogas of a suitable (natural-gas) quality.

Easy to operate: Weishaupt Thermo Condens boilers are set and controlled using a portable controller, either directly at the boiler or from elsewhere in the building. Remote operation and maintenance (e.g. via the internet) can be achieved using the optional Weishaupt WCM-COM communications module.

Long service life: Weishaupt condensing boilers are the result of years of experience and developmental work. Only high-quality materials and components are used during manufacture.

System technology: Weishaupt has a comprehensive range of accessories – flue-gas systems, DHW cylinders, hydraulic components, controllers, and solar collectors for DHW or heating support. All from the same place and all perfectly matched to each other.

Energy efficiency

The familiar efficiency labelling of fridges, washing machines and televisions has now been extended to cover heating equipment. Both individual products and complete heating systems will be given energy efficiency labels.

The thinking: The labelling complies with European Union (EU) directives and is designed to give consumers a basis for comparison and thus to help them make informed decisions when buying heating systems. Consistent, standardised practice will be ensured by the predefined methods of calculation that have been laid down by the EU Commission.

Product label: Every boiler will receive what is known as a product label. This will state the energy efficiency for space and, where applicable, water heating. Other figures – such as sound power levels –  might also be given, depending on the heating system.

System label: If a complete system is being installed, e.g. a boiler with a temperature controller and a DHW cylinder, there will be a system label to show the energy efficiency of that system as a whole. This is usually better, as all the components have been matched to one another and expansions to the system, for example with solar collectors, have been taken into account.

Usefulness: The labels show the energy efficiency as defined by certain standards. However, this shouldn’t be the be-all and end-all when it comes to domestic heating. Many factors influence the energy efficiency and consumption of a heating system: How warm should the house be? How much hot water will be used? Is there underfloor heating? Purchasing decisions should therefore not be made solely on the basis of the energy efficiency label.

Weishaupt Aqua Vario: WAV 70 - 100

This DHW tank is suitable for wall-hung condensing boilers rated up to 32 kW. The rectangular 70-litre version can be installed beneath or alongside the condensing boiler as required. The 100-litre version is mounted beneath the boiler and is available in rectangular and cylindrical versions. (Energy efficiency class: B)

This DHW cylinder is available in five sizes, so that precisely the right capacity can be selected for any application. The generously dimensioned heating coil enables rapid heating, and the cylinder's PU-foam insulation keeps the temperature level constant for long periods, saving energy. Weishaupt Aqua Tower: WAT 140

The slim Weishaupt Aqua Tower can help when boiler room space is limited. Its 140-litre volume and high-capacity heat exchanger make it perfectly adequate for two to four-person households. Nor should the design aspect be overlooked - the Aqua Tower is an elegant solution with any Weishaupt boiler or heating system. (Energy efficiency class: B)

Weishaupt thermal store: WES-A 660/910, version C

Weishaupt thermal stores organise and distribute the heat produced by different energy sources (gas or oil-fired condensing boilers, heat pumps, solar collectors, solid-fuel boilers, or stoves) with an exemplary degree of efficiency. Inlet dampers ensure that the ideal temperature stratification is always maintained within the thermal store. Energy is also drawn off in an economical manner, with solar energy having priority over any other source.

Weishaupt Aqua Sol: WASol 310 - 510

A bivalent cylinder for solar DHW heating. Bivalent means that there are two heating coils within the cylinder; the lower coil is connected to the solar circuit, the upper to the heating system. If the energy provided by the solar circuit is not sufficient for heating the water in the cylinder, the heating system is switched on automatically. Three large gradations allow precise dimensioning for optimal heating convenience with minimal energy consumption. (Energy efficiency class: B, WASol 510: C)

The Schwendi medical centre

Schwendi's medical centre is home to an energy-saving heating system and the latest in building management technology. Four WES 910 thermal stores are fed by a cascade of six wall-hung, gas-fired condensing boilers, supported by solar collectors with a total surface area of 46 m². A building management system by Neuberger controls and monitors the whole system. A flagship energy-efficiency project.

The Oberhermsdorf primary school

Oberhermsdorf is a suburb of Wilsdruff, a town near the German city of Dresden. Around 250 pupils are taught at the primary school here before moving on to secondary school. During renovations to the school building, which dates back in part to 1890, four new Weishaupt WTC-GW gas-fired condensing boilers were installed. The boilers operate as a cascade, reliably providing up to 240 kW of environmentally-friendly heat, which is used to heat both the 2,900 m² school building and the 500 m² sports hall situated next door.

Passive building with Weishaupt technology

Did you know that the German town of Laatzen is home to a unique sports hall? It is the first sports hall in Europe built to the passive house standard. Weishaupt solar collectors with a total surface area of 23 m² support a Weishaupt WTC 60-A gas-fired condensing boiler in providing heat to a 900-litre Weishaupt thermal store. The system is fully controlled by Weishaupt control technology and Neuberger building automation.
